Favorites of February 2015

We are finally out of the longest shortest month in recent memory.  The snowy weather and bitter cold has been brutal.  I mean, it would be less insulting if it was, say, mid-January, but late February and feels like -9°F?  C'mon Mother Nature.  (It's now the first week of March, and today it's a balmy 21°F (but feels like 7°F).)

Anyhow, it's time to focus on some good stuff, so let's get to some favorites.

Furry blanket background today!

Urban Decay Vice 3 Palette -- Oh my goodness.  I love this so much.  Why did I think so long about it?  Geez.  I could have been enjoying it for far longer!  The colors in this palette have just the right mix of bright colors, dark colors, and neutrals.  The packaging is also cool, even if it does attract millions of fingerprints.

Mally Volumizing Mascara -- I bought this several months ago because Miranda from Slashed Beauty said she loves it, and if a blogger who focuses more on affordable cosmetics is willing to pay $20 for a mascara, it must be good.  And, my howdy, is it ever.  It gives me wonderfully, obnoxiously lush lashes.  I need a new tube of this, but I'm waiting for an Ulta coupon.  I am currently using my other favorite mascara, the L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly.

Too Faced Sweethearts Blush in Peach Beach -- Everyone loves heart-shaped stuff in the month of February, right?  The shades in the pan might not look particularly exciting, but on the skin they are beautiful.  It may seem like kind of a spring-y or summery blush, but I think it looks pretty awesome and appropriate year-round.  (I actually used this one a lot in December and January, too.)

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Auburn -- This brow pencil is something I've been using for a long time, but never featured it in a favorites post for some reason.  It's a twist up self-sharpening pencil with a fine tip that makes filling in the brows nice and easy.  It doesn't seem like the kind of pencil that would be good for reshaping the brows, because the tip is so fine and the product is not very creamy.  It's better for making little strokes across the brow to imitate hairs.  I also like that is has a spoolie brush on one end.

China Glaze Nail Lacquer in Sex on the Beach -- Such a gorgeous rose with a hint of gold shimmer.  It's been on my nails non-stop since I got it.  (Well, not non-stop.  I did have to redo my manicure, but I put it right back on.)

Lip Pencils -- I've been using a lip pencil of some sort almost everyday this month.  Yes, this is the influence of youtube gurus.  Layering lip products is not something I really bothered with in the past, but I'm really having fun with my new (and old (well not old, but ones I already owned)) pencils.  Some particular favorites are Clinique Sky Violet Quickliner for lips, Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in Turn On, NYX Nude Pink Retractable Lip Liner, and Laura Geller Pout Perfection Lip Liner in Cabernet.

So there they are.  Favorites.

What are some of your recent favorites?  Or non-favorites?

  2. Layering lip products is surprisingly fun! I also love how you can change the way a lipstick or gloss looks just by adding a liner.

  4. The Vice 3 is so much fun. It's worth it if you feel like splurging. Y'know as a reward for saving all sorts of money. Go and spend it all on some makeup. :P
