Tricky Eye of the Day

I named this EotD after the shadow named "Trick" in the Naked 3 palette (I'm trying to come up with witty names for my EotDs), which I used all over the moving lid.  I used "Limit" in the crease and up toward the brow, "Nooner" to darken the crease, and "Strange" under the brow and inner corner, and I used Maybelline Full 'N Soft mascara.

I wasn't going to bother photographing this, but I thought it ended up being rather pretty.

Have a gorgeous day!

Enchanting MSU EotD

Michigan State is playing in the NCAA basketball tournament tonight, so of course I had to use some green eyeshadow today.  I think Fyrinnae Enchanting Otters is one of the prettiest green shadows I own.  I just used it as liner and left the rest of the lid bare.

Look at that sparkle!

Bronze EotD with pop beauty

I thought I'd show you my right eye for today's eye of the day post.  I usually show the left because I like the shape of my left brow better.  I wish they were more symmetrical, but they are sisters, not twins.

Products: pop beauty Bright Up Your Life eyeshadow trio in Naturally Bare
-- bronze shade (middle color in the trio) on the moving lid
-- taupe shade (far right color) in the crease
-- gold highlight shade (far left color) under the brow and inner corner

Milani Liquif'Eye Metallic Eyeliner Pencil in Brown on the lower waterline

             Maybelline Full 'N Soft Mascara

I received the pop beauty Bright Up Your Life eyeshadow trio in Naturally Bare in an Ipsy bag a few months ago.  I'm not sure the name "Naturally Bare" is totally appropriate for this trio, because all of the shades have quite a bit of shimmer.  As you can see from the swatches, the shadows aren't particularly pigmented.  Especially the taupe shade.  Man is it sheer.  The bronze shadow actually ends up looking alright on the lid, and the light gold gives some nice shimmer.

I'm not sure I like the brown pencil on the waterline.  I think it make have a little too much red in it.  Ah well.

Have a beautiful day, and thanks for reading!

Jade and Silver Look of the Day

Here is the slightly over the top look I wore to watch the Michigan State basketball team play in the third round of the NCAA Tournament last Sunday (at home, in front of the TV).  MSU school colors are green and white, but I used silver instead of white, and chose a jade green instead of a more emerald green (like the color of the stones in my earrings, which are a "Spartan" green).

Eyes: Maybelline Color Tattoo cream eyeshadow in Silver Strike
silver "eyelid" color from the Wet 'n' Wild Shimmer the Night Away palette (LE)
"Emerald Glitter" and "Olivine" colors from the Sephora + Pantone Universe Eclipsed
                      Color Grid Shadow Block (LE)
Wet 'n' Wild Color Icon eyeshadow single in Brulee
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Covet (discontinued)
         L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara

Cheeks: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Luminous Flush

Lips: Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipstick in Blush Glow

Swatches:

from left: Silver Strike Color Tattoo, Wet 'n' Wild Shimmer the Night Away eyelid color, "Emerald Glitter", "Olivine",  Wet 'n 'Wild single in Brulee, Urban Decay 24/7 Covet eyeliner

from left: Hourglass blush in Luminous Flush, Elizabeth Arden lipstick in Blush Glow

Michigan State made it to the "Sweet Sixteen" and is playing again on Friday, March 28 with a tip-off time of 9:57 pm.  I case you need to set your TiVo.

Did you know President Obama picked Michigan State to win the NCAA tournament?

MAKE UP FOR EVER Lab Shine Diamond Collection Lip Glosses in D8 and D14 Swatches and Review

MAKE UP FOR EVER (I feel like I'm yelling the name when typed in all caps) makes 3 different Lab Shine lipgloss forumlas: Diamond, Star, and Metal.  Sephora was selling a couple of sets that had 2 Diamond glosses for $16, and I decided to pick up the pink set.

D8 is described as a shimmering baby pink.  It looks more hot pink in the tube.

D14 is described as a shimmering Indian pink.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Lab Shine Diamond Collection Lip Glosses in D8 and D14

The applicator is a short, little brush.  I generally like brushes for lipgloss, but occasionally a few of the bristles will splay out like this one.

The formula is exquisitely smooth and non-sticky, and, even though they are sparkly, they have no grittiness.  They have a slight fruity scent but no taste, and feel light but pretty hydrating on the lips.  These are sheer, and are quite glossy.  Surprisingly, they aren't as sparkly on the lips as I expected.  They aren't particularly long-lasting because of the slipperiness.

D8

D14
More about the three different formulas from the Sephora website: Available in 35 shades across three unique collections: Diamond, Star, and Metal. The Diamond Collection includes 12 shades that give natural looking color with sparkling, sheer coverage. The Star Collection has 14 shades with a pearly shine for medium coverage. The Metal Collection consists of nine highly pigmented shades that offer full coverage with an intense, chrome finish.

Obviously, these will look quite different on lips with different pigmentation from mine because they are sheer.  They look nice and glossy on their own, and work nicely over a lipstick or lip pencil.

You can see the sparkles in D14 better in this awesomely blurry photo.
I think these are sophisticated glitter lipglosses.  The sparkle seems to make the gloss look even glossier.  How do you feel about sparkly lipglosses?  Do you like them more glittery than this?

First Day of Spring Face of the Day

According to my calendar, today is the first official day of spring!  I used green and yellow shadows that remind me of new growth of plants and sunshine, and a purple liner that makes me think of crocuses.

Eyes:
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk as base on the lid
NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Sea, Sex, and Sun -- green on the lid, yellow in the crease
Wet 'n' Wild Brulee under the brow
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eyeliner in Ransom
      Maybelline Full N' Soft Mascara

Cheeks: City Color Be Matte Blush in Fresh Melon

Lips: Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipstick in Blush Glow

Have a happy day!
