A Kitty Update

I told you last week that my parents' cat Rani was missing.  She had escaped when a new dryer was being delivered to their house.  Everyone was worried about her, and everyone in the neighborhood was looking for her.

Well, she is now home!!!

My parents' next door neighbor spotted her running into his garage, and he quickly shut the door to keep her in there.  My mom was able to coax her out of her hiding spot, pick her up, and carry her home.

She was quite thirsty and talkative.  I guess she had to talk about her amazing adventure.

We are all happy and relieved that she is home, and I think she is, too!

She is happily curled up with my dad.

The ASPCA says that over 70% of "displaced" cats (meaning escaped/missing) end up being reunited with their owners.  If often takes over a week (Rani was missing for 10 days) for them to come home, because it takes that long for the kitty to relax enough to venture out of their hiding place.

If you ever have a pet go missing, make sure you do stuff like put up signs with photos, put a sign in front of your house, and place humane/live traps around your house baited with fish or food (well, for a kitty at least).  Also, and most importantly, don't give up!!!

I want to thank everyone for all your kind words and positive thoughts.  They were much appreciated!

  4. I'm so glad that Rani (did I get that right?) made it back home safely! My dog ran away once. It's a very scary feeling. Luckily we had a happy ending as well.

  7. It was really scary and miserable for us. We're so thankful our neighbor was keeping his eyes open for her.

  8. She's been following my parents around the house and being unusually cuddly. She also seems to have no interest in going outside, thank goodness.

  10. We are so happy, too! When my mom called me to tell me she was home, I jumped out of my chair and yelled at my husband that she was home! He yelled "awesome" back. Note --we were in the same room and didn't need to yell. lol
