Sparkly Purple!

One of my favorite shadows of all time is Darling Girl Cosmetics "Here's Johnny".  It's a gorgeous, very sparkly purple.  Whenever I wear it, I spend entirely too much time looking in the mirror with my eyes half closed admiring the beauty that it is.  I never like taking it off at night!  My husband also loves it, and always comments on how awesome it is when I wear it.  I wore this makeup for date night last week.

Champagne and Purple Dramatic Eyes

For friday night date night I added some gel liner, matte black shadow, and an extra coat of mascara (Maybelline's Mega Plush) to the eye I did here.  I have to admit I quite like the way this turned out.

The Mega Plush mascara is okay with one coat, but it builds nicely since it never gets crunchy or too dry on the lashes.

Super Smokey Look and Tutorial

I was inspired by some YouTube videos I watched recently (like Tanya Burr and the Pixiwoo girls) to try and use more makeup all in one look (like contour, blush, and highlighter--I usually do bronzer or blush and rarely use highlighter).  I quite like how it turned out.  I'm also trying to get up my nerve to try out false lashes.  They make it look so easy.

For the eyes, I started with the NYX Black Bean pencil (matte black), and applied it all over as a base. Then I patted Urban Decay's Loaded (a shimmery black-based forest green) over Black Bean.  I blended out those two using Urban Decay's Naked (light matte tan) and Sephora's Lazy Afternoon (matte vanilla) eyeshadow, and I put a little of Urban Decay's Virgin shadow (light shimmery vanilla) on my tear duct.  I lined my upper and lower lashes with E.L.F. cream eyeliner, and patted more Loaded over the lower lash line.  I lined my water line with Tarina Tarantino's eyeliner in Tommy Jet (black) and applied 2 heavy coats of Maybelline's Full 'N Soft mascara.

What has inspired you recently?

Pink and Black Date Night EotD/FotD

I attempted to do a soft cut crease with pink and black for Friday evening. I like the way it turned out, but I felt a little self-conscious when I went out to the grocery store to get food for dinner (date night in!) since it is pretty dramatic.

The Milani Tickled Pink eyeshadow has a lot of gold in it, and you can see some of the gold blended with the black shadow.  So pretty!

Silver Smokey Eyes for Date Night

I love dramatic eyes for date night (my hubby likes it when I go all out too).  I used the Wet 'n' Wild Color Icon palette in Shimmer the Night Away (which I think was limited edition) for tonight's silver, dark grey, and black look.  I used Guerlain Maxi Lash in Noir for mascara.

Navy Smokey Eye

I decided to do a navy smokey eye for tonight's date night.  I used the Dangerous palette from Urban Decay, which is one of my favorite palettes for dark, mysterious looks.

The Urban Decay pencil in Binge and the Sephora Jumbo pencil in Marine are very similar in color, but Binge is a thin liner and Marine is a chubby pencil.

Valentine's Day Smokey Look

Happy Valentine's Day!  I decided to do sultry, smokey eye makeup with a pale pink lip today since it's one of my favorite looks for date night, romantic dinners, or just because.   Plus it's such a gloomy, grey day here in Detroit.  Everyone needs a little glam on a day like today!

Lips:  Nyx Jumbo Lip Pencil in Iris

The Nyx lip pencil is a shimmery light pink that is a touch on the frosty side.  The formula is nice and smooth and feels hydrating as well.

The Too Faced Waterproof liner is so creamy!  You barely have to touch it to the skin and it deposits color so smoothly and without any tugging or skipping.  Sephora had a little Too Faced set for $10 that had a mini pencil and mini Lashgasm Mascara which I picked up.  I haven't tried the mascara yet, but I love the pencil.  It's a very true dark black.
