Fall Favorites: Lipsticks

It's officially the first day of autumn!  Fall always feels like lipstick time to me, so I'm wrapping up my "fall favorites"  series (I should have named it "colors I plan on wearing" or something) with lipsticks (or tinted balms, as the case may be).  My favorite lip colors for autumn tend to be berries and nudes.  I don't wear dark lip colors, but I do think deep, vampy lips in the fall are really cool.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Rouge Artist Natural Lipstick in N1---light, pearly nude

Lipstick Queen Jean Queen Lipstick--rosy, berry pink

Clinique Chubby Stick in Super Strawberry--sheer berry pink

Pur Minerals Mineral Shea Butter Lipstick in Golden Zincite--shimmery warm slightly reddish pink (it looks warmer on the lips due to the golden shimmer)

Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie--deep berry

I didn't realize how similar color-wise a couple of those lippies are (Lipstick Queen Jean Queen and Revlon Berry Smoothie Lip Butter... and maybe even the Clinique Super Strawberry Chubby Stick).  I've never thought of them as dupes, but they look awfully close.

What are your favorite lip colors for fall?

Wet 'n' Wild Comfort Zone Palette Tutorial

I love reading tutorials on blogs, so I thought I would make an attempt at one of my own using the Wet 'n' Wild Comfort Zone palette.

I used just the colors on the left side of the palette.

I like how the eyes turned out, but I'm not sure about the tutorial.  Maybe I'll try another one when I'm doing something really adventurous with my makeup so it's a little more interesting.   (And when I'm using a better camera /better lighting so the photos are better quality... Oh well.  It was my first try at this!)

Thanks for visiting and checking out my first pictorial!  Have a gorgeous day!

Fall Favorites: Eyeshadow Pencils

I'm sure that I've mentioned before that I love eyeshadow pencils.  They are so easy to use and are great for a quick wash of color, as a base to intensify a powder shadow, or even as a liner.  At least that's how I use them!  These are the pencils (I think of them more as crayons) that I see getting quite a bit of use this autumn.

Sephora 12 Hour Wear Jumbo Liners in Kaki, Green Shimmer, and Marine: these are so creamy and long-wearing.  They are gorgeous on their own and blend beautifully.
   Kaki--golden olive green
   Green Shimmer--shimmery emerald green
   Marine--rich royal blue

Urban Decay24/7 Glide-On Shadow Pencil in Mercury: this is a very long-wearing gunmetal silver

Milani Shadow Eyez 12 Hour Wear Eyeshadow in Royal Purple and Brown Deluxe:  Wow, these are creamy!  They are so easy to blend with a finger or a brush to soften the edges.
Royal Purple--matte (no shimmer) true purple (not too blue or too red)
Brown Deluxe--shimmery bronzy brown with a tiny bit of sparkle

Stila Smudge Crayon in Smoke: this claims to be a primer, shadow, and liner in one.  I'm not sure about the primer part, because I get a tiny bit of creasing after a few hours without one, but no problems with one.  This is also creamy and soft.  Smoke is a shimmery taupe.

Thanks for visiting!  I'd love to hear about your favorite eyeshadow crayons!

Fall Favorites: Nail Polishes

Here are five nail colors I have pulled out of my stash to wear this autumn.

Sally Hansen Lustre Shine Nail Color in Firefly---duochrome pink copper with slight green shift (that I couldn't capture in the photos!)

Sephora by OPI Nail Color in Once a Cheetah, Always a Cheetah---slightly sheer orange with fine gold glitter (this one reminds me of pumpkins... if they were sparkly, that is)

Sephora by OPI Nail Color in S-age is Just a Number---duochrome bronzy-green with gold shimmer

butter LONDON Nail Lacquer in The Old Bill---rich bronze with silver shimmer

JINsoon Nail Lacquer in Nostalgia---creamy nude pink beige (perfect for giving me mannequin hands, which always seem on trend, regardless of the season)

Here are a couple more photos of the more complex colors.  (They are hard to capture!)

Since I haven't really ventured into the world of nail art, I tend to just wear one color on my nails at a time, so I try to choose colors that look interesting on their own.  I would like to try some of the geometric nail designs I've seen in magazines and on the runways, as well as an ombre manicure.

What do you like to wear on your nails this time of year?

Fall Favorites: Blushes

These are the blushes I plan to wear often this fall.  I tend to go for deeper, cooler blushes come fall, although I love coral too much to put my coral cheek and lip colors away completely!  I also think spicy, browny blushes are beautiful for autumn, but I'm not sure they are the most flattering colors on me.

Josie Maran Cheek Gelée in Poppy Paradise:  cool pink that gives a natural flush of color

Milani Powder Blush in Flora Passion:  matte warm pink

Cargo Blush in Mendocino:  pinky berry with some gold shimmer

Tarte Cheek Stain in Blushing Bride:  sheer plum that doesn't have shimmer (The photo makes it look like it does, but that is the gel texture of the cheek stain.)

NYX Powder Blush in Desert Rose:  cool hot pink--a light hand is required with this one

NARS Blush in Sin:  plummy browny berry with gold shimmer (I forgot to include Sin in the group photo...)
