Face of the Day with Makeup Geek, Tom Ford, and NARS

I couldn't come up with a witty name for this post.  I wanted to do something referencing the name of the green eyeshadow (Jester), but I wasn't feeling creative enough, I guess.  Ah well.

Happy Easter Pastels FotD

To my readers who celebrate, happy Easter!  To those who don't, happy Sunday where everyone else is obsessed with pastel colors, chocolate bunnies, and eggs.  I don't really celebrate Easter anymore (we did do Easter-y stuff in my house when I was a kid) except maybe eat a Cadbury Creme Egg.  I did use a bunch of pastel shades for my makeup, and it seems kind of Easter-y.

Michigan State Basketball Final Four Look of the Day (featuring Emma)

MSU is playing in the Final Four (the semi-final game in the NCAA basketball tournament) this evening, so I absolutely had to use some green and white eyeshadows today.  I went rather dramatic with this look.

Surprise the Dragon Look of the Day

It's a day that ends in "y", so I thought it would be appropriate to use the Urban Decay Vice 3 palette on my eyes.  This time I used some neutrals on the upper lid, and the bright green shade "Dragon" on the lower lashline.  I thought the green pop of color on the lower lashline was sort of a surprise, which is how I came up with the name of the post.

New Year's Day Face of the Day

So, this is what I wore on my face for New Year's Day (yes, I am leettle behind in the blogging department).  I watched the Michigan State football game, so of course I had to wear some green eyeshadow.  I've done this look tons of times before, but I love it so much that I can't help but repeat it.

MSU Go Green Face of the Day

So, the Michigan vs Michigan State football game was a couple weeks ago, and I thought I would cheer on the team by going crazy with some shimmery green smoky eyes (MSU colors are green and white) and peach lips.  I also wore my blingy Spartans shirt.  Michigan State is playing Ohio State this evening, which is the other big game of the season for them, so this look would work for today, too.  Hmmm.  Maybe I need to replicate it seeing as how it worked last time (MSU won).

Eyes:
from the Urban Decay Naked Palette -- Naked eyeshadow in the crease
L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Golden Emerald on the lid and lower lashline
Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Eyeshadow in  Bone under the brow
Jordana 12 Hour Made To Last Liquid Eyeliner Pencil in Jade Jewel on the lower waterline
   L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara

Cheeks:
Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush in Peach Beach

Lips:
Too Faced La Creme Color Drenched Lip Cream lipstick in Shimmer Naked Dolly
-- from the Too Faced Under the Mistletoe lipstick set

The star of this look is definitely the L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Golden Emerald.  It is ridiculously pretty.

Blurry to show that sparkle!

It sparkles on the eyes.

I'm convinced that MSU won the game because of my smoky eyes and sparkling Spartans shirt.

Go Green!  Go White!

Hey, I have a question.  It is "smoky" or "smokey" with an e?

Garden of Eden Eyes of the Day

It's no secret that I love colorful eyeshadow.  Purples and greens are probably my favorite colors, so I figured I better make the Sleek Garden of Eden eyeshadow palette mine.  I ordered mine from Amazon, but Sleek also delivers to the US, so it is possible to order directly from them.

I used three of the green shades and one of the brown-y plummy shades for today's eyes of the day.

I used: Evergreen all over the moving lid and the inner 1/3 of the lower lashline
Fauna in the outer v and crease, and the outer 2/3 of the lower lashline
Tree of Life as liner on the upper lashline
Flora in the upper part of the crease blended up towards the brow

Also: Too Faced Perfect Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner in Perfect Black on the lower waterline
         L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara

The greens in this palette are gorgeous.  Super shimmery and wonderfully pigmented.  I do find all of the shimmery shadows to be quite soft and slightly fragile.  The matte shades are a little stiffer, but definitely workable.

If you love greens and plums, you might just want to get your hands on the Garden of Eden palette.

Have a wonderful day, friends!

EotD with MAC Silver Sun

Silver Sun seems like kind of an odd name for a "midtone dirty sea foam green" (MAC's description). It's a gorgeous color no matter what the name.

Lid -- MAC Silver Sun Extra Dimension Eyeshadow (from the Alluring Aquatics collection)
Crease -- Glasswing (matte dark tan) from the Kat Von D Chrysalis palette
Under brow -- Lifelike (matte cream) from the Kat Von D Chrysalis palette
Fresh Supernova Mascara (using up an old sample!)

Quite a simple look, but pretty I think.

Colorful Purple and Green EotD

I couldn't come up with a good name for this eyes of the day post, so I thought I'd be descriptive.

Products used:
Wet 'n' Wild Petal Pusher palette (left hand side) --
"definer" color all over moving lid
"crease" color in the crease and outer v
"browbone" color under the brow (lightly) and inner corner
Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Ransom on the upper lashline
L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Golden Sage on the lower lashline
Jordana 12 Hour Made to Last Liquid Eyeliner Pencil in Jade Jewel on the lower waterline
    L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara

from left: "definer" and "crease" colors from the Wet 'n' Wild Petal Pusher palette, L'Oreal Infallible eyeshadow in Golden Sage, Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in Ransom, Jordana eyeliner in Jade Jewel

I think some bright purple mascara would have taken this look to the next level of awesomeness.  Can anyone recommend a good one?

Grape Hyacinth Inspired EotD

I finally have a couple grape hyacinths blooming!  They inspired me to use blue-y purple and grassy green shadows together.

This one looks so happy with the crocus blooming next to it.

I used some ancient Shiseido cream/mousse shadows for the main purple and green colors.  They are so very gorgeous, but because they are so soft they tend to crease on my eyes rather quickly.

However, this was as creas-y as the purple got, even after a few hours (I took the above photo probably 30 min after application).

Even though these are old, I can't seem to part with them.  And they seem like they are still okay, even though they probably aren't.  They haven't dried out or changed texture, so, whatever.  Hopefully I won't end up blind from using old eyeshadows...

Products:
Shiseido Hydrolight Eyeshadow in H6 (blue purple) on the moving lid
Shiseido Hydrolight Eyeshadow in H7 (grass green) on lower lashline
from the Wet 'n' Wild Petal Pusher palette -- deep purple "crease" color in the crease
Wet 'n' Wild Color Icon single in Brulee under the brow
Jordana 12HR Made to Last Liquid Eyeliner Pencil in 06 Jade Jewel on the waterline
   L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara

from left: Wet 'n' Wild Brulee, Wet 'n' Wild "crease" color from the Petal Pusher palette, Shiseido H6, Shiseido H7, Jordana eyeliner pencil in Jade Jewel

Slightly out of focus to show just how shimmery!
I love how this turned out!

Do you have any old products you can't bear to part with, and find yourself using, even though you know you shouldn't?
