Perfect Pairing: Purple and Peach Look of the Day

Nice alliteration in the post title, eh?

I've been doing a "shop my stash" type of thingy lately (y'know, where you go through your collection and find something you haven't worn in a while and make it a point to use it).  One of the things I put in my "use this product" basket is Milani's Baked Blush in Luminoso.  Nikki from Nikki Tutorials has been raving about and using this blush a lot in her videos lately, and it made me want to pull it out, which then gave me the idea to "shop my stash."

Chocolate Gold Face of the Day

I was trying to think of a name for this FotD, and all I could come up with was naming it based on the fact that I used the gold shade (named Creme Brulee) in the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette.

NYX Blush in Summer Peach Swatches

There are times when I don't know how to start a post.  This seems to be one of them, so let's just get to the swatches!

NYX says:  Our pressed powder blush delivers sheer, silky color that glides on, blends beautifully and creates a natural glow.

NYX describes Summer Peach as "peachy pink with gold reflects."  I think it is a pinky peach (more warm than cool) with a tiny bit very fine gold glitter that you see more in the pan than on the cheeks (I don't think I can even see the gold on the cheeks!).

The texture is smooth and non-powdery.  It applies fairly sheerly and the color can be built up, so you don't have to worry about accidentally going overboard with color.

This is such a pretty color and gives a beautiful, natural flush to the cheeks.

NYX powder blushes are available in 24 shades and are $5.00.

NYX Round Lipsticks in Rose Bud and Indian Pink Swatches (and a cute kitty!)

I thought I would do a few quick swatches of 2 NYX round lipsticks.

First we have Rose Bud, a cool pink with a little lavender and gold shimmer.

Next is Indian Pink, which is a medium orange-y color with a hint of pink and gold shimmer.  This color is fairly bright on the lips.

These both have the lovely NYX round lipstick formula that is pretty moisturizing and lightweight, and kind of slippery.

My boy kitty Charlie is in my suitcase and ready to go on the trip to visit my sister in Madison, WI!
His sister Emma knows they aren't really going, so getting in the suitcase is just silly...

Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Juicy Peach Swatches

I love the Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick (in Fresh Papaya) that I bought recently that I decided to buy another color.  I chose Juicy Peach, a light sparkling peach color.  I love the feel of these on the lips, the scent (citrusy!), the soft shine they give, and how soft my lips feel even after they wear off.

Juicy peach seems more sheer than Fresh Papaya, but that may be just because it is a lighter color.  I think this is a beautiful natural color that gives a tiny bit of warm peach and some shimmer to the lips.

Maybelline Color Whispers

Maybelline just launched a new lipstick formula that is taking the blogosphere by storm.  Everyone loves them and there are many comparisons being made with the Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters, as well as every other lipstick/balm hybrid.  I picked up two colors, Pin-Up Peach and Rose of Attraction.

Maybelline says: "Pure color pigments suspended in a weightless gel.  No heavy waxes or oils.  Soft, sexy gel-color."

(with flash)

Pin-Up Peach is a medium pink coral.  Rose of Attraction is a slightly fuchsia medium pink.  (I think I suck at describing colors...)

They are fairly close in color, but obviously Pin-Up Peach is warm-toned, and Rose of Attraction is cool.  These both have a tiny bit of shimmer, but it really reads as just glossiness.  They are somewhat sheer, but give vibrant color.  I think they have sort of a "jelly" look to them.

They are definitely soft and smooth and have a balm-like feeling to them.  I think these are lighter feeling feeling on the lips than the Revlon lip butters, and I think less moisturizing.  I personally don't mind somewhat heavy-feeling lip products because it is easier to tell when to reapply color.  These will probably feel great in summer, though, when I don't need as much moisture on my lips.

I think these are beautiful colors and they seem very versatile since they give some color without being overpowering.

Very pretty!

Revlon Colorburst Lip Gloss Swatches

Some Revlon Colorburst lipgloss swatches today.

Revlon says: A pop of weightless color with vivid, mirror-like shine. Outshines everything but you!
• Micro-crystal formula for 5X the shine of patent leather
• Plush applicator shaped to curves of your lips for smooth, even application of colour
• ColorBurst's Elasticolor™ technology for rich color with a weightless feel
• Moisturizers and anti-oxidants such as sweet almond oil and vitamin E conditions and improves lip texture
These are housed in a see-through plastic tube with a black plastic cap that has the name Revlon in silver and some cross-hatches that makes the cap look kind of quilted.   They has a doe-foot applicator which is sort of flat on one side.

They are non-sticky, decently pigmented, medium weight, shiny glosses.  They have no discernable scent or taste on the lips.  I detect a little smell as I'm applying them though (I can't quite put my finger on what it is--maybe vanilla?).

These last for about 3 hours on me before I see some fading.

The two colors I have are Orchid (number 12), a cool lavender pink with silver shimmer, and Peony (number 3), a peachy coral with gold shimmer.

Revlon Colorburst Lipglosses are $7-8.

Friday's Face of the Day

Simple, fresh makeup today using pinky coral colors.

Face:  Becca Radiant Skin Satin Finish Foundation in Shell
           Sephora Mattifying Foundation in Light
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Treatment Concealer in Fair
           Mally Poreless Face Defender
Milani Baked Powder Blush in Corallina
Brows:  Benefit Browzings in Medium
Eyes:  NARS Eyeshadow Single in Night Porter as liner
Maybelline Full 'n Soft Mascara in Very Black
Lips:  Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Fresh Papaya

How gorgeous is this Milani Blush?  It is a litte hard to capture in photos how pretty it is.

Milani Baked Blush in Corallina

This blush is a beautiful coral with gold sparkle running throughout.  It applies sheerly and is buildable, which is great because it is hard to overdo.  (I have been known to be a little heavy handed with my blush...)  It does have sparkle rather than shimmer, but it doesn't seem disco ball like on the skin.  I think it is a fairly sophisticated glitter because it is so fine.

Have a beautiful friday!
