China Glaze Sex on the Beach and Some Hearts

I have found a beautiful nail polish color.  It's China Glaze Sex on the Beach.  It's a rosy pink with some gold shimmer and very very tiny silver sparkles.

I have been wearing this nail color for weeks.  I used it for my Valentine's Day manicure, but added some little hearts from the Nicole by OPI polish in Love Your Life on my ring finger.

I was going to put the hearts on all of my fingers, but they were such a pain to get out of the bottle that I decided to just do the accent nail thing.  And, like all other polishes with large particles of glitter (I consider the hearts to be kind of like glitter), this was a chore to remove.

Those hearts look so pretty in the bottle, but, ugh, the fishing!

This is definitely a new favorite polish.

Just a little bit of sparkle.

Whatcha got on your nails?

Happy Halloween (Fashion and FotD)

It's finally Halloween!  Time to binge on candy and horror movies!

I didn't do any unusual costume or makeup this year, but I went with a bit of a spiderweb theme for my clothes and jewelry for the day.

I just did some (what I think are) awesome smokey eyes for my makeup.

I used:
from the Urban Decay Naked Palette--Naked (matte tan) in the crease
Creep (sparkling dark gray) in the outer and inner corners
Virgin (shimmery shell) under the brows
from the Too Faced Pretty Rebel Palette -- Miss Sparkles (sparkling black) in the outer v
Fyrinnae loose pigment in Velvet Vampire (sparkly rust red) in the center of the lid

I followed the same pattern as the upper lid on the lower lashline.

Velvet Vampire, Miss Sparkles (swatched dry 'cause that's how it used 'em)

LORAC Front of the Line PRO Liquid Eyeliner in black along the upper lashes
Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in Perversion on the waterlines
  Mally Voluminizing Mascara in Black

Cheeks: BFTE Babycakes Blush

Lips: MAKE UP FOR EVER Rouge Artist Natural in N9

This photo makes it look like I put my blush on weird and unevenly, but it's just the lighting.  I swear.

I found some cool nail stickers (the kind that are nail polish in sticker form, so they are long-lasting).

I kinda wish I had attempted some "spiderweb" eyeliner.

Did you dress up for Halloween?

P.S. The weather here was miserable for trick or treating (37°F and rainy).  Many of the kids that visited my house were wearing mittens.

Nude and Silver Nails

I tried to do something arty with my nails.  It's not particularly arty, but I think it's a little more interesting than my standard "one color of polish on my nails" nails.

I though the combination of a cream nude with a tiny bit of sparkly silver on the tip would look cool. I obviously didn't do a perfect job, and I could have made the silver tip even thinner, but I like the results.

I used JINsoon Nail Lacquer in Nostalgia all over my nails, and Orly Shine on just the tips.

I love JINsoon Nostalgia.  It is a perfect nude.  I actually love it for fall as an alternative to all the deep and dark polish shades we usually see trending in the autumn.

What's on your nails today?

Totally unrelated:  I suddenly have "Phantom of the Opera" music going through my head.  What is that about?

Formula X Cherry Blossom Effects Top Coat

I was perusing the new stuff section on the Sephora website (you know how you do) not too long ago, and I came across this adorable polish.

It's a top coat with a clear base with pink little, medium, and large circular-shaped particles, as well as flower "blossom" shaped particles (Sephora's website describes them as glitter, but they aren't sparkly).  It gives the effect of both polka dots and little blossoms on the nails.  So delightful!

I put two blossoms on my thumb.

Like any polish with little glitters or particles in it, you kind of have to fish them out of the bottle.  The "polka dots" came out easily, and I didn't actually have to double or triple dip for them.  I did have to go in a few times to find a flower, but once it was on the brush it was easy to dab it on and place it where I wanted.  I put a clear top coat (Essie's Good To Go) over the whole nail once the Cherry Blossom polish had dried to lock down any edges.  I haven't had any blossoms or polka dots peel off or catch on anything.  They all lie down flat really nicely.  I think the material is pliable enough that it molds to the curve of the nail.

I really like how the Sephora included photos of both the bottle of the polish and how it looks on real nails.

Formula X is exclusive to Sephora and the Cherry Blossom Top Coat is $12.50 USD.  (It is currently out of stock on the website as I write this...)

I think the Cherry Blossom Top Coat is charming!

Valentine's Day Manicure

Pink on pink for Valentine's Day.  If I had some nail art tools (and was more steady handed) I would have attempted a heart or something.  I think the pink tips with the pink base is cute, though.

I used CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in Pink-finity as the base color all over the nail, and Milani Nail Lacquer in Tip Toe Pink on the tips.

Baby Pink Nails with Gold Glitter Tips

This is another attempt of mine at doing something more interesting on my nails besides one color by itself.  I'm not sure it really could be considered nail art...

I used CoverGirl Outlast Nail Gloss in Pink-finity all over my nails, and then added O.P.I. for Sephora Nail Color in Looks Like Rain, Dear on just the tips of the nails.

Pink-finity is an opaque, cool, light pink.

Looks Like Rain, Dear is a glitter gold that has large holographic glitter pieces as well as small gold glitter.  It is surprisingly un-sheer for a glitter polish.  It seems to have a gold metallic base that gives good color coverage.

Have a gorgeous saturday!!
