Anniversary Day at the Detroit Zoo (Lots of Pics and Videos)

Last week, my husband and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary.  We got married in the Detroit Zoo Butterfly House, so we try to go back every year on our anniversary.  We had a wonderful day.  It wasn't too hot and the animals were out (not hiding like they sometimes do).  We also live close enough to the zoo that we can walk there, which is quite nice.

Inside the Butterfly House:

This blue morpho butterfly was quite attracted to my husband's boots.

In the aviary:

Scarlet Ibis -- the brown ones are juveniles

Around the zoo:

Vultures -- these guys are so cool.

Camel

Rackham Fountain -- there are bears holding up the fountain

Tree Kangaroo climbing around

Flamingos

Peacock poking around the outdoor eating area

Playful otter

We spent a good deal of time viewing the primates:

Baby chimpanzee hitching a ride

An endangered Drill

Gorilla!

After he walked around, he plopped down and took a nap.

Chimpanzee foot

Snow Monkeys -- they're up there

Lemurs are probably my favorite primates.

Sleepy big cats:

Lions

Pretty tiger

Sleepy tiger

Huge yawn

Up for a stretch

More stretching

Time to chew a bone

There are lots of beautiful gardens in the zoo.

After visiting the zoo, we got some Lebanese food, took it home for dinner, and watched some Netflix shows.  It was a perfect anniversary!
